Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the Battle of Badr, the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Who will go and see what has become of Abu Jahl?" Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) went for this service. He saw that the two sons of Afraa had beaten him until he was lifeless. Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) caught Abu Jahl by his beard and said, "Are you Abu Jahl? Are you the misguided old man?" He replied, "Have you ever killed a man greater than me?"
