Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that there were seventy young men from the Ansar who were called the Qurra (reciters). They used to stay in the mosque, and when evening came, they would go to some corner of Madinah, study lessons, and offer prayers. Their families thought they were in the mosque, and the people of the mosque thought they were at home. In the morning, they would bring sweet water and cut wood, and hang it near the chamber of the Prophet (ﷺ). Once, the Prophet (ﷺ) sent all of them, and they were martyred at the incident of Bi’r Ma‘unah. The Prophet (ﷺ) continued to invoke curses upon their killers in the Fajr prayer for fifteen days.
