Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Ansar gathered together and came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "How long will we keep drawing water from wells? Let us go to the Prophet (ﷺ) so that he may supplicate to Allah for us to cause springs to flow from these mountains." When the Prophet (ﷺ) saw them, he said, "Welcome, O Ansar! By Allah! Today, whatever you ask of me, I will give you, and whatever I ask Allah for you, Allah will surely grant it to me." Hearing this, they said to one another, "Consider this an opportunity and ask for forgiveness for your sins." So they said, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)! Supplicate to Allah for our forgiveness." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "O Allah! Forgive the Ansar, the children of the Ansar, and the children of the children of the Ansar." They said, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)! What about our other offspring, are they not included among us?" The Prophet (ﷺ) included them in the supplication as well. Then they mentioned their freed slaves, so the Prophet (ﷺ) included them too.
