Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I brought Abdullah, the son of Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him), to the service of the Prophet (ﷺ). I saw that the Prophet (ﷺ) was applying tar to his camels. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Do you have anything with you?" I replied, "I have Ajwa dates." The Prophet (ﷺ) took a date, chewed it in his mouth to soften it, gathered his saliva, and put it into the child's mouth, and the child began to suck it. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Dates are the beloved thing of the Ansar." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) named him Abdullah.
