حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ، وَابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ فَرَأَى حَبْلًا مَمْدُودًا بَيْنَ سَارِيَتَيْنِ، - قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ: فِي الْمَسْجِدِ - فَسَأَلَ عَنْهُ، فَقَالُوا: فُلَانَةُ تُصَلِّي، فَإِذَا غُلِبَتْ تَعَلَّقَتْ بِهِ، فَقَالَ: " لِتُصَلِّ مَا عَقَلَتْ، فَإِذَا غُلِبَتْ فَلْتَنَمْ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) once entered the mosque and saw a rope hanging between two pillars. He asked, "What is this rope?" The people replied, "This is the rope of such-and-such woman; when she feels lazy or tired while praying, she ties herself to it." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Untie it." Then he said, "When any one of you prays, he should pray as long as he remains energetic, and when he feels lazy or tired, he should stop."
