حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ ابْنًا لِأُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ صَغِيرًا كَانَ يُقَالُ لَهُ: أَبُو عُمَيْرٍ، وَكَانَ لَهُ نُغَيْرٌ، وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا (١) ضَاحَكَهُ فَرَآهُ حَزِينًا، فَقَالَ: " مَا بَالُ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ " قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَاتَ نُغَيْرُهُ، قَالَ: فَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ: " يَا أَبَا عُمَيْرٍ، مَا فَعَلَ النُّغَيْرُ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to come to us and joke with my younger brother. One day, the Prophet (ﷺ) saw him sad and said, "What is the matter, Abu Umair! You look sad?" The family members informed that his bird, with which he used to play, had died. Upon this, the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "O Abu Umair! What happened to the Nughair?" (the bird that had died)
