Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْعَالِيَةِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: شَهِدَ عِنْدِي رِجَالٌ مَرْضِيُّونَ فِيهِمْ عُمَرُ - وَأَرْضَاهُمْ عِنْدِي عُمَرُ -: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: " لَا صَلاةَ بَعْدَ الصُّبْحِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ، وَلا صَلاةَ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ " (٢) .،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said:
Some righteous men, including ‘Umar - and the most righteous of them in my view was 'Umar - confirmed when I was present that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: `There is no prayer after Fajr until the sun rises and there is no prayer after 'Asr until the sun sets.`
