حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا ثُمَامَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، ، بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَاءَهُ أَصْحَابُهُ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ، فَخَرَجَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ فَخَفَّفَ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ، فَأَطَالَ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ فَخَفَّفَ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ، فَأَطَالَ، فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، صَلَّيْتَ، فَجَعَلْتَ تُطِيلُ إِذَا دَخَلْتَ بَيْتَكَ، (١) وَتُخَفِّفُ إِذَا خَرَجْتَ، قَالَ: " مِنْ أَجْلِكُمْ مَا فَعَلْتُ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once during the month of Ramadan, the Prophet (ﷺ) came out and led a short prayer, then left. After quite some time, he came again and led a short prayer, then again went back and stayed inside for a long while. When morning came, the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "O Messenger of Allah! We were sitting here tonight, you came and led a short prayer and then went inside for a long time?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "It was because of you that I did so."
