حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ، وَأَنَا ابْنُ تِسْعِ سِنِينَ، فَانْطَلَقَتْ بِي أُمِّي (١) أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ إِلَى نَبِيِّ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، هَذَا ابْنِي اسْتَخْدِمْهُ. " فَخَدَمْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تِسْعَ سِنِينَ، فَمَا قَالَ لِي لِشَيْءٍ فَعَلْتُهُ: (٢) لِمَ فَعَلْتَ كَذَا وَكَذَا، وَمَا قَالَ لِي لِشَيْءٍ لَمْ أَفْعَلْهُ: أَلَا فَعَلْتَ كَذَا وَكَذَا "، وَأَتَانِي ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ وَأَنَا أَلْعَبُ مَعَ الْغِلْمَانِ - أَوْ قَالَ: مَعَ الصِّبْيَانِ - فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْنَا ثم دَعَانِي فَأَرْسَلَنِي فِي حَاجَةٍ، فَلَمَّا رَجَعْتُ. قَالَ: " لَا تُخْبِرْ أَحَدًا "، فَاحْتَبَسْتُ عَلَى أُمِّي، فَلَمَّا أَتَيْتُهَا قَالَتْ: يَا بُنَيَّ، مَا حَبَسَكَ؟ قُلْتُ: أَرْسَلَنِي (٣) رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَاجَةٍ لَهُ، قَالَتْ: وَمَا هِيَ؟ قُلْتُ: إِنَّهُ قَالَ: " لَا تُخْبِرْن بِهَا أَحَدًا ". قَالَتْ: أَيْ بُنَيَّ، فَاكْتُمْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سِرَّهُ. Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (ﷺ) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, I was nine years old. Umm Sulaim (may Allah be pleased with her) brought me to the service of the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)! This is my son, please accept him for your service." I served the Prophet (ﷺ) for nine years. The Prophet (ﷺ) never said to me, "Why did you do such-and-such a thing?" nor did he say, "Why did you not do such-and-such a thing?" Once, I was playing with children, and during that time the Prophet (ﷺ) came and greeted us with salam. Then he took my hand and sent me for some task. When I returned, the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Do not tell anyone about this." Meanwhile, I was delayed in reaching home, so when I returned home, Umm Sulaim (may Allah be pleased with her), my mother, said, "Why did you take so long?" I told her that the Prophet (ﷺ) had sent me for some task. She asked, "What was the task?" I said, "The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade me from telling anyone." She said, "Then protect the secret of the Prophet (ﷺ)."
