حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ (١) ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، سَأَلَ أَهْلُ مَكَّةَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ آيَةً، " فَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ بِمَكَّةَ مَرَّتَيْنِ "، فَقَالَ: {اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ، وَإِنْ يَرَوْا آيَةً يُعْرِضُوا وَيَقُولُوا سِحْرٌ مُسْتَمِرٌّ} [القمر: ٢] (٢)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the people of Makkah requested the Prophet (ﷺ) to show them a miracle, so the Prophet (ﷺ) showed them the miracle of the splitting of the moon twice, and upon this the verse was revealed: "The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has split."
