Musnad Ahmad Hadith 12611

It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was sitting in a circle with the Prophet (ﷺ), and a man was standing and offering prayer. After bowing and prostrating, when he sat in Tashahhud, he recited this supplication: ( اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ الْحَنَّانُ بَدِيعَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ ) "O Allah! I ask You because all praise is for You alone, there is no deity except You, the Most Compassionate, the Originator of the heavens and the earth without any precedent, the Possessor of Majesty and Honor. O Ever-Living, O Sustainer! I ask You alone." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Do you know what supplication he made?" The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) replied, "Allah and His Messenger (ﷺ) know best." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "By Him in Whose hand is my soul, he has supplicated to Allah by His Greatest Name, which, when He is supplicated by it, He surely answers, and when He is asked by it, He surely gives."
