English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that someone advised the Prophet (ﷺ) to go to (the chief of the hypocrites) Abdullah bin Ubayy. The Prophet (ﷺ) set out riding his donkey, and the Muslims also set out on foot with the Prophet (ﷺ). The ground was soft. When the Prophet (ﷺ) reached him, he said, "Stay away from me, the smell of your donkey is troubling me." Upon this, an Ansari said, "By Allah! The donkey of the Prophet (ﷺ) is more fragrant than you." Then, a man from the people of Abdullah bin Ubayy became angry on his behalf, and then a wave of anger and resentment spread among the companions of both sides, and it came to the point of fighting with branches, hands, and shoes. We learned that this verse was revealed about them: "If two groups of Muslims fight each other, then make peace between them."
