Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I came to the service of the Prophet (ﷺ), and he was lying on his bed, which was tied with braided palm fibers, and under his blessed head was a leather pillow filled with bark. Meanwhile, some companions (may Allah be pleased with them) also arrived, among whom was Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (ﷺ) turned and sat up, and Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saw that there was no cloth between the Prophet (ﷺ) and the rope, due to which the marks of the rope had appeared on the blessed side of the Prophet (ﷺ). Seeing this, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Umar! Why are you weeping?" He replied, "By Allah! I weep only because I wish that in the sight of Allah, you are far more honored than Caesar and Chosroes, and they are enjoying luxuries in the world, while you, O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), are in the condition that I see." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Are you not pleased that for them is the world and for us is the Hereafter?" He replied, "Why not." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Then it will be so."
