حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ وَهِيَ مُحَمَّةٌ، فَحُمَّ النَّاسُ، فَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَسْجِدَ، وَالنَّاسُ قُعُودٌ يُصَلُّونَ. فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " صَلَاةُ الْقَاعِدِ نِصْفُ صَلَاةِ الْقَائِمِ، فَتَجَشَّمَ النَّاسُ الصَّلَاةَ قِيَامًا " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (ﷺ) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, the climate there was hot, due to which people were afflicted with fever. One day, the Prophet (ﷺ) entered the mosque and saw that people were performing prayer while sitting. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The reward for performing prayer while sitting is half of that for performing it while standing." Upon this, people hurried to stand up and perform the prayer.
