حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ: إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ الْعَبْدُ مِنِّي شِبْرًا، تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ ذِرَاعًا، وَإِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّي (١) ذِرَاعًا، تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ (٢) بَاعًا، وَإِذَا أَتَانِي يَمْشِي، أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Whoever comes closer to Allah by a span, Allah comes closer to him by a cubit; and whoever comes closer to Allah by a cubit, Allah comes closer to him by a fathom; and whoever comes to Allah walking, Allah comes to him running.
