حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ وَرْدَانَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ ذَاتَ، ، يَوْمٍ: " مَنْ شَهِدَ مِنْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ جَنَازَةً؟ " قَالَ عُمَرُ: أَنَا، قَالَ: " مَنْ عَادَ مِنْكُمْ مَرِيضًا؟ " قَالَ عُمَرُ: أَنَا، قَالَ: " مَنْ تَصَدَّقَ؟ " قَالَ عُمَرُ: أَنَا، قَالَ: " مَنْ أَصْبَحَ صَائِمًا؟ " قَالَ عُمَرُ: أَنَا، قَالَ: " وَجَبَتْ وَجَبَتْ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) asked his companions (may Allah be pleased with them), "Who among you has attended a funeral today?" Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) presented himself. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) asked, "Has anyone among you visited a sick person?" Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "I have." Then he asked, "Has anyone given charity?" Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) again presented himself. Then he asked, "Has anyone fasted today?" Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "I have fasted." The Prophet (ﷺ) said twice, "It has become obligatory."
