Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the place of Masjid Nabawi (peace be upon him) originally belonged to Banu Najjar. There was a tree and some graves of polytheists there. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to Banu Najjar, "Settle its price with me." They replied, "We will not take its price." The Prophet (peace be upon him) himself participated in the construction of Masjid Nabawi. People would hand bricks to the Prophet (peace be upon him), and the Prophet (peace be upon him) kept saying, "True life is the life of the Hereafter. O Allah! Forgive the Ansar and the Muhajireen." And before the construction of Masjid Nabawi, wherever the time for prayer occurred, the Prophet (peace be upon him) would pray there.
