حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: مُرَّ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِجِنَازَةٍ، فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهَا خَيْرًا مِنْ مَنَاقِبِ الْخَيْرِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " وَجَبَتْ، إِنَّكُمْ شُهَدَاءُ اللهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ ". ثُمَّ مَرَّ عَلَيْهِ بِجِنَازَةٍ، فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهَا شَرًّا (٤)، ، مِنْ مَنَاقِبِ الشَّرِّ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " وَجَبَتْ (١) إِنَّكُمْ شُهَدَاءُ اللهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a funeral passed by the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). People began to mention the good qualities and praise of the deceased. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "It has become obligatory." In the meantime, another funeral passed by, and people mentioned the bad qualities and condemnation of the deceased. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "It has become obligatory." Then he said, "You people are Allah's witnesses on earth."
