حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ يُونُسَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ الْأَيْلِيَّ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " تَجِدُونَ النَّاسَ مَعَادِنَ، فَخِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ إِذَا فَقِهُوا. وَتَجِدُونَ مِنْ خَيْرِ النَّاسِ فِي هَذَا الْأَمْرِ أَكْرَهَهُمْ لَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ فِيهِ. وَتَجِدُونَ مِنْ شَرِّ النَّاسِ ذَا الْوَجْهَيْنِ الَّذِي يَأْتِي هَؤُلَاءِ بِوَجْهٍ وَهَؤُلَاءِ بِوَجْهٍ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: People are like hidden treasures (mines). You will find that those among them who were the best in the time of ignorance are also the best in the time of Islam, provided they become learned in religion. And you will find the best person in this matter to be the one who was honorable even before entering this religion. And among the people, the worst person you will find is the one who is two-faced, coming to some people with one face and to others with another face.
