Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يُذْكَرُ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَنَّ رَجُلًا رَأَى كَلْبًا يَأْكُلُ الثَّرَى مِنَ الْعَطَشِ، فَأَخَذَ الرَّجُلُ خُفَّهُ، فَجَعَلَ يَغْرِفُ لَهُ بِهِ الْمَاءَ حَتَّى أَرْوَاهُ، فَشَكَرَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَهُ، فَأَدْخَلَهُ الْجَنَّةَ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: A man saw a dog who was licking mud out of thirst. He filled his shoe with water, held it in his mouth, came out, and gave the water to the dog to drink. Allah appreciated this deed of his and admitted him into Paradise.
