Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) explained this verse: O believers, do not be like those who hurt Musa (peace be upon him), then Allah cleared him of what they said. Musa (peace be upon him) was very modest and covered, and for this reason, no man ever saw his body. Some people from Bani Israel hurt him and began to say that the reason he covers himself so much is that there is some defect in his body, such as leprosy or swelling of the testicles (or some disease). Allah Almighty intended to clear Musa (peace be upon him) of what they said. So once, Musa (peace be upon him) went to bathe and, as usual, took off his clothes and placed them on a stone. That stone ran away with his clothes. Musa (peace be upon him) ran after it, saying, "O stone, my clothes! O stone, my clothes!" until the stone stopped near a group of Bani Israel. They saw Musa (peace be upon him) naked and found him extremely handsome and free from the defects they had accused him of. Musa (peace be upon him) took his clothes from the stone and began to strike it. Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says, "By Allah! Due to the strikes of Musa (peace be upon him), there were four or five marks left on that stone."
