حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زِيَادٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا أُتِيَ بِطَعَامٍ سَأَلَ عَنْهُ فَإِنْ كَانَ صَدَقَةً لَمْ يَأْكُلْ، وَإِنْ كَانَ هَدِيَّةً أَكَلَ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: When food would come to you from somewhere other than your own house, you (peace be upon him) would inquire about it. If it was said that it was a gift, you (peace be upon him) would eat it, and if it was said that it was charity, you (peace be upon him) would tell the people to eat it and would not eat it yourself.
