Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنِ هِشَامٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى (٤) ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ أَمْسَكَ كَلْبًا، نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ، إِلَّا كَلْبَ حَرْثٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ " (٥)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: Whoever keeps a dog for purposes other than hunting, or guarding fields or herds, then his reward will decrease by one qirat every day.
