Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ
لاَ تَحْلِفُوا بِالطَّوَاغِي وَلاَ بِآبَائِكُمْ
.
Translation
English translation
It was narrated from 'Abdur-Rahman bin Samurah that :
the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Do not take oaths by idols nor by your forefathers. "
