In Arabic
The full Dua is written in Arabic with the Diacritical as:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَى وَالتُّقَى وَالْعَفَافَ وَالْغِنَى
and Without the Diacritical:
اللهم إني أسألك الهدى والتقى والعفاف والغنى
Transliteration
Allahumma Inni As’alukal Huda Wat-Tuqa Wal ‘Afaafa Wal Ghina
Meaning
“O, Allah! I ask You for Guidance, Piety, Abstinence, and Self-sufficiency”
The Dua is Asking Allah for Four things which are:
- Huda: the need for guidance in your affairs to be on the right path
- Tuqa: Means Following what Allah commanded and leaving what He prohibited.
- Afaaf: Mean to Abstain from what is not permissible and prohibited.
- Ghina: Mean Self-sufficiency as being pleased with what you have whether it is a lot or a little

Abdullah bin Mas’ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to say:
“Allahumma inni as’alukal-huda wat- tuqa wal-‘afafa wal-ghina (O Allah! I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and self-sufficiency)”.
